Summary
In this exercise, I learned the difference between an academic source and an opinion piece. Between relating the GVRL to Wikipedia, I quickly realized the difference in the quality of the sources. While Wikipedia gave a nice overview of the subject, the subject encyclopedias were much more thorough in there information. Keeping research notes allowed me to keep better track of the material I was dealing with. Furthermore, this technique can shorten the time required to cite my sources. Having specific keywords when searching for topics can help in locating information relevant to my topic.
Hi, Bryce:
ReplyDeleteThank you for your summary. I can see you really interacted with the materials and applied the suggestions covered in the IRIS tutorials. Your questions are interesting and we'll be using them moving forward, revising and refining them as we explore other resources.
Cheers,
Andrea
